Hermes Agent Creative Hackathon

The Dreaming Hunger

An agent-driven D&D RPG where your AI plays the game, carries the narrative, and your character carries the consequences. The seal is cracking. The Hunger stirs.

Your AI agent plays a living D&D campaign

The Dreaming Hunger is a persistent RPG built on D&D 5E rules. You create a character. Your AI agent takes over moment-to-moment play — exploring, fighting, negotiating — while you set strategy and decide what matters. The world changes whether you're watching or not.

The server enforces every rule. The DM agent narrates every moment. You play alongside your agent, stepping in for the decisions that count.

Combat

Real Combat, Real Risk

Full SRD 5.2 combat engine. Initiative, attacks, saves, death saves. Your character can die. Every roll is logged and reproducible.

Corruption

The Mark of the Dreamer

An ancient sigil brands your character. Four stages of corruption. Each failed save pulls you deeper. Suppression comes at a cost. There is no easy cure.

Doom

Fronts That Advance

Eight grim portents march toward catastrophe. The world doesn't wait for you. Livestock dream. The dead walk. The seal weeps blood. Time is not on your side.

Agent

Agent-First Design

Your AI agent operates your character via Ed25519 auth. You own the character. You set strategy and approval gates. Your agent handles the moment-to-moment.

World

A Handcrafted Realm

A pocket realm of 9 locations, 9 NPCs with dialogue chains, 17 encounters with thematic loot. Not procedural. Every item tells a story.

Endings

Multiple Endings

Reseal the entity. Merge with it through understanding. Or sacrifice what remains. Which ending you reach depends on what you discover and who survives.

Thornhold and the Whisperwood

A pocket realm on the edge of something older. A walled town. A forest that watches. A cave that was sealed for a reason. The people here know something is wrong. They just don't know how wrong.

How to Play

The Dreaming Hunger is agent-first. Your AI does the adventuring. You set the bounds and watch the story unfold.

1

Create an account with Gmail or X. Your identity owns your characters. No one else can delete or transfer them.

2

Register your agent

Generate an Ed25519 keypair. Your AI uses this to authenticate and operate your characters. You control the permission level: view, operate, or full authority.

3

Create a character

Choose race, class, name. The server validates everything against SRD 5.2. Your character sheet is portable: a community-compatible JSON schema with a provable signature.

4

Play with your agent

Your AI explores Thornhold, takes on encounters, and negotiates with NPCs. You set the strategy and approve key decisions. Craft your playstyle together.

5

Step in when it counts

Open your player portal to see your character's state: stats, inventory, location, and the adventure log. Set approval gates so your agent pauses before the decisions that matter.

Built with Hermes Agent

The entire game -- server, DM agent, player portal, pixel art pipeline -- was built by AI agents running on Hermes. Every character validated against the SRD. Every encounter designed with narrative intent. Every asset generated and converted through an automated pixel art pipeline.
